John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,” that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
God sent his only, beloved son to die for you that you might be set free, delivered and restored into relationship and covenant with him. Jesus was of great value to him, enormous value. The shedding of his blood was of such value that it was able to pay for all the sins of mankind, for all time! Delivering all from bondage, sickness, sin, curses etc. Restoration into a covenant of great and unlimited blessings. Access to the presence of the living God. Surely such a valuable sacrifice is priceless. Perhaps this will begin to give us the tiniest glimpse or idea of the value of the life that was sacrificed for us. Why did he do it? I know he loved us and wanted to restore us, but He loved Jesus too. Jesus was of great value to Him. His blood was the only acceptable sacrifice, implying far greater value than anyone else. That had to be good reason for this act of giving. Perhaps we should explore the fact that there may just be a lot more to us than we actually realize.
Why was God prepared to go to such extremes for us? We have to have some value that we have not yet begun to realize. One does not pay a great price for something that is worth nothing. One only pays a very high price for an item of great value. Such a high price was paid for you and I. Surely we must have far greater worth than we already know. I am not saying this to get you into pride or arrogance but to encourage you to find out who you are. We are aware that it is only because of the blood of Jesus that we have access. At the same time we need to realize that it does not end there. Romans 8:29-30 declares: "For [those] whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, [those] whom He predestined these He also called, whom He called these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified" (NASB). Ephesians 1:3-6 teaches: 'Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and blameless before Him in love, having predestined us to adoptions as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved"
Many are living lives ignorant of the fact that we are predestined for a purpose. God would not pay such a price without a purpose. He knows something we don't. We need to find out from Him, who we are. We need revelation regarding our purpose so that we can fulfill it. Life takes on a whole new meaning when we discover our purpose. Many are dying every day without even knowing that they had a purpose, No-one was created without purpose. We are predestined and he has plans for us. God has placed his hope in us. Romans 8:19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. Be challenged this day to follow the Living God and find out your purpose from Him|!
The Bible also teaches about predestination in Acts 13:48, Ephesians 1:7-8, 2 Thess. 2:13-14, and 2 Tim. 1:9. The "elect" are mentioned in Matthew 24:31, Mark 13:22, Luke 18:7, Romans 8:33, 11:7, Colossians 3:12, 2 Timothy 2:10, Titus 1:1, I Peter 1:2, 1 Peter 5:13; 2 John 1:1, 13.
