Exodus 12:7, Then they are to
take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the door frames of
the houses where they eat the lambs.
God instructed the Jews to kill a lamb and
place the blood on the sides and tops of the door posts. In this way they would
be protected when He passed over with the Destroyer. God used the “Passover” as
a vehicle to deliver and set free the Jews from slavery and to take them into
their promised land. At the exact same time that the Jews were celebrating the
“Passover Feast” in Jerusalem, Jesus, the ultimate sacrifice and Lamb of God
was being sacrificed, crucified, to deliver and set us free. These
co-incidences or God -incidences, almost seem to be orchestrated. They speak
loudly of a God who has so much control.
Exodus 12:14, this is a day you
are to commemorate; for generations to come you shall celebrate it as a
festival to the Lord – a lasting ordinance.
He also instructed them to
celebrate this day as a feast for all generations to come. The “Passover”
should be celebrated by Jew and Gentile. (Not Easter). As Christians, we may not celebrate in the
exact same way, following the Jewish rituals, but it is also a celebration of a
life sacrificed. Also a celebration of the blood covering and the power it has
to deliver and set us free from bondage, curses, sickness etc.
Therefore, the “ Passover” has
not lost its power but still has the power as a vehicle to deliver each one of
us and set us free from whatever bondage or situation we may find ourselves in.
For those of us who have accepted Jesus as our Saviour and believe that he died
and rose from the dead for us, the blood of Jesus is now our covering and has
far greater power than that of a mere lamb.
Have you explored exactly what
this blood has done for you? All we have to do is believe God for deliverance
from whatever form of slavery we find ourselves in. There exist many forms of
slavery today, especially in the workplace.
If you are being manipulated or it seems
others are trying to control you, and if you are allowing this, you may be in a
form of slavery, either at work or in a relationship. If you truly know God and
know who you are, you will not submit to any controlling spirit. My pastor
always says that if anyone tries to manipulate or control you in any way, that person
is a thief.
Watch out for the thief. We all
know who he is. Remember you cannot submit to control and manipulation in one
situation and then attempt to take authority over another situation. No, you
will have no authority if you are cowering to one.
You must stand up to all and take your
authority back. A true leader will always recognize and discern when there is
any attempt to control and manipulate and will not fall for it.
Leaders lead by example. You need
only to submit to the right spirit. The Holy Spirit, who is in you and in those
who guide, teach, train and support you. Do not allow yourself to be taken
captive. Let others know who you are.
Today, more than ever it is
important for you to discern every situation. You cannot have authority in the
church and be walked all over in the world. In such instances your authority
exists only in your mind and not in the spiritual realm. Be assured, the powers
of darkness know this!
Jesus did not die for nothing. He
died to set us free from the situations of slavery, domination, control, we
find ourselves in. Unhealthy relationships are included.
Jeremiah 29:11” For I know the
plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm
you, plans to give you hope and a future. God has wonderful plans for
our lives. When you stand up and move out of these situations, the blessings of
God will rush in. I speak from experience.
Passover was not only to free you
but also to take you to your promises. You need to appropriate the blood of
Jesus and call in the promises of God on your life and you will be amazed how
He has undertaken for you. Zechariah 4:6...'Not by might, nor by power,
but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty.
